Lewiston has four seasons. The average January temperature is 19°F and the average July temperature is 79°F. Residents enjoy the fun of snow in winter, warmth and sunshine in the spring and summer, and colorful scenery in the fall.

This urban community is situated on the banks of the beautiful Androscoggin River. It is this powerful river that was the key to Lewiston's growth and development. The first industries were built long ago on the banks of the roaring Androscoggin River. The grist mill, the sawmill, the textile mills, and later the shoe shops took advantage of the water power of the Great Falls waterfall and the fast moving river current to supply power for these industries.

Today Lewiston's industries are spread throughout the city limits. Modern day industries vary from car parts, light bulb filament, food goods, as well as many other businesses. Many of these industries ship their products all over the world. Perhaps some of these products are even in your home.
